24 Jan Looking Back at 2018 | Seattle Photographer

It’s not quite the end of January–better late than never for an end of the year review! As I’m sure many of you have noticed from the direction my social media posts have been going, I’ve drastically reduced the number of weddings I’ve been shooting and have really begun focusing on my family work. I’m trying to maintain a healthy work/life balance (does that ever really exist, especially as a mom?) and in doing so I’ve really discovered the true joy that photographing families brings me. Marie Kondo has worked her magic on my closets and now it’s time for my career–ha ha! I still have a serious love of weddings, but the flexibility of working with families and engaged couples (I will never slow down with engagement sessions or elopements) has allowed me to spend some serious quality time with my daughter and delve back into corporate and lifestyle sessions, which I had been missing. I photographed some incredible weddings this year and loved each one of them, but this post is going to focus on all the people (and pets!) I had in front of my camera not on a wedding day. There’s a ton of images, so get comfy. It’s Marie’s fault. I went with the images that “sparked joy” and then had to make some hard cuts. The winners simply made me smile and I hope they do the same for you. Happy 2019 and thank you for your continued support!
