Jamie + Lissa | Backyard Wedding on the Hood Canal

25 Sep Jamie + Lissa | Backyard Wedding on the Hood Canal

On this beautiful day out on the Hood Canal, I had the pleasure of photographing two friends say their I-do’s after 8 years together as a couple. The ceremony and reception were held in her parents’ backyard, adding the most personal of touches and intimate feel to the wedding day (backyard weddings are the best!). To be honest, their backyard is the size of a city park (at least), so it wasn’t stand-on-top-of-each-other-intimate, but the type of intimacy that comes from being in a familiar location surrounded by your favorite people all willing to help–and many did. From preparing the food, to creating a clearing for the ceremony, to coordinating the day’s events, to starting a bonfire in the middle of the yard to keep everyone warm at night, the love for this couple could be found around every corner in the efforts made by their nearest and dearest. Even the bride’s horse, Junebug, was included in the day for a mini photo session! I had a great time capturing their story, and I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed capturing them.
