Haley + Paul | Married at Zephyr Cove in Lake Tahoe

27 Oct Haley + Paul | Married at Zephyr Cove in Lake Tahoe

People traveled from all around the globe to this woodsy slice of lakeside goodness for three very important reasons: 1. Haley.  2. Paul.  3. To celebrate the amazingness that occurs when the aforementioned are together, and choose to be so, forever (listed in no particular order). As people arrived in Lake Tahoe’s Zephyr Cove for this outdoor celebration, the sun was out, both the sky and lake were bright blue, and a wedding on the beach seemed like a magical way to send the couple into marital bliss. Unfortunately, mother nature had different plans. The morning of the wedding we were all greeted by a major storm (not surprisingly–everyone had been “nonchalantly” checking the weather on their phones every hour on the hour). In some cases (ok, most), the torrential downpour of rain and crazy gusts of wind would have literally dampened spirits and taken away that Lake Tahoe magic, but in this case the exact opposite happened. Everyone collaborated. Flowers and decor were hurriedly moved indoors. Living rooms became ceremony and reception sites. People huddled together, sat on floors/stairs/armchairs, and embraced the rain and intimate spaces–even a crazy handful toughed it out for the bride vs. groom beach volleyball game. It was such a fantastic showing of support and a testament to the love felt for this couple and their families. In the end, all of this camaraderie was rewarded because after dinner and toasts the rains cleared, allowing for a costumed dance party under the stars. I have to admit that this was a tricky (and wet) day to shoot, but I couldn’t have cared less, because I felt so lucky and honored to have been asked to be a part of it. Enjoy!
